2002 ANNUAL REPORT
Issues Conference

WSPA's 3rd Annual Issues Conference, held on October 1 - 3, provided an opportunity for WSPA members to meet a host of key regulators, environmental group representatives and coalition partners in an informal setting. The Conference topic, "What is Petroleum's Role in California's Future" enabled panelists and participants to engage in a lively exchange on a wide range of topics including strategies to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the development of a strategic fuels reserve, clean diesel and alternative fuels, environmental justice, and air and water quality issues.

Several high ranking government and regulatory leaders participated in the Conference, including Art Baggett, Chairman, State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB); Commissioner James Boyd, California Energy Commission (CEC), Winston Hickox, Secretary, California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal EPA) and Dr. Alan Lloyd, Chairman, California Air Resources Board (CARB).

WSPA received positive feedback from both member companies and government participants regarding the importance of the Issues Conference for it's valuable relationship building opportunities and the thought provoking discussions on petroleum industry issues and the future.
