ANNUAL REPORT
WSPA Reorganization
WSPA Reorganization Study Underway
Late in the year, a transition consultant was retained
by the WSPA Board of Directors to study the potential
reorganization of the trade association. The consultant
interviewed nearly 80 individuals representing all facets
of WSPA membership, with the goal of gaining information
on issues, challenges and pathways to ensure WSPA's
future success.
The consultant also studied previous reorganization
reports to better understand areas that were identified
as needing improvement, while working to identify consensus
items surrounding WSPA's governance structure, it's
advocacy and lobbying effectiveness, the role of the
President, office locations including the headquarters
and the budget process.
As part of the plan to gain consensus on the reorganization,
preliminary results were shared with the current and
future Board Chairmen and several key WSPA committees
in November. The WSPA Board of Directors was presented
the findings and recommendations for approval in mid-December.
Thus far, the WSPA members have universally voiced
a desire to retain and position a viable trade association,
and the WSPA President, staff and committees will work
hard in 2003 to implement the reorganization plan as
approved by the Board.
