Government-mandated wage increases can harm Washington’s businesses and jobs

HB 1067 is a bill in Washington State that seeks to mandate prevailing wages for private sector projects.

Many companies and business organization oppose this bill, which has been previously rejected by the State Legislature.

Expanding prevailing wages into private sector projects has never been done before in Washington State. Employers should be guaranteed the right to negotiate and contract wages with their employees and contractors. Mandating private companies to pay prevailing wages for contractors for private work could set a precedent for private industry across the state that would likely further raise costs.

Lawmakers must protect Washington’s workers, jobs, and the economy. Vote NO on HB 1067.
