Argelia León joined the WSPA team in October 2017, and currently serves as Director, Strategic Partnerships and Southwest Policy, where she is responsible for developing and maintaining WSPA’s affiliations in the five western states including California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada.
Prior to joining WSPA, León served as a Vice President at Mercury Public Affairs where she worked with the government affairs unit. In that capacity she managed public affairs campaigns and coalition building efforts throughout the state, and helped to establish the firm’s Mexico City office. León also managed the political campaign for a gubernatorial candidate in Puerto Rico.
León is skilled in community outreach and media, and has a strong background in navigating policy issues at the state level. Fluent in English and Spanish, León has conducted bilingual outreach on issue campaigns and led media relations programs tailored to Latino audiences and media outlets.
Argelia earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Journalism from California State University, Sacramento.
