Bob Brown joined the WSPA team in October 2016 as Director, Bay Area Region. In this capacity, Bob is responsible for leading WSPA’s advocacy, public awareness, community engagement and regulatory efforts on behalf of the five major petroleum refineries in the nine-county region.
Prior to joining WSPA, Bob led AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah’s corporate communications, community affairs and media relations efforts, managing the auto club’s strong reputation on transportation, automotive and traffic safety issues.
Bob also has extensive experience in the public sector, including leading the California Department of Consumer Affairs communication and education division under former Governor Pete Wilson. This included managing the State’s awareness efforts for the revamped smog check program.
Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Davis. He grew up in the Bay Area and serves on a number of regional business and non-profit boards.
