As WSPA’s Senior Director, Controller, Joe Trone oversees all financial operations for the Association.

Joe brings extensive experience in accounting, auditing, and operations management across nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors. Before joining WSPA, he served as Director of Accounting at the Wine Institute, where he oversaw financial reporting, accounting, federal grant compliance, audits, budgeting, payroll, and human resources.

Joe previously held leadership roles in public accounting at Moss Adams LLP and Crowe LLP, most recently serving as a Senior Assurance Manager, where he managed audit engagements and advised clients. A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Joe brings deep expertise in GAAP, GASB, and Uniform Guidance and is recognized for his strategic approach to financial management and strong collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Sacramento. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Crystal, their three children, and their dog, Kona.
